You must have seen Gmail and Google drive installed on your phones already when you buy a new smartphone. These are important enterprise products that help in streamlining any business. What Is G Suite?

Formerly, G Suite was called Google Apps for work. It is a SaaS, i.e. Software as a Service product that combines Google tools into groups for collaboration and productivity based on the cloud. The most prominent users include institutes, businesses, and nonprofits. Each subscription provides access to Sites, Gmail addresses, Sheets, Docs, Slides, Drive, Calendar, and much more.

How Is G Suite Different From Google Apps That Are Free?

Now you might think, why do I need G Suite when all the Google apps are available to me for free? Well, if you look at some key features, you will realize that G Suite facilitates the perfect integration of key features with your company. It’s no secret that the majority of the products are available for free for everyone. The subscribers get access to some enterprise-level features.

G Suite

Some features include unlimited storage for the cloud which is optional, shared calendars, advanced controls for admins such as remove or add users, single-sign-on, two-step verification, and easy-to-use data migration tools that help you in transferring the valuable data of your firm to G Suite.

It also comes with management for mobile devices. This lets users activate or deactivate mobile devices, have control over apps, and remote wipe in case one of the employees think of going rogue with any company device.

In addition to these impressive features, G Suite has something to offer for your domain, that is, custom e-mail addresses. “@gmail.com” is the common suffix all emails use. But when you subscribe to G Suite, each user gets a username like “xyz@yourdomain.com.”

Note – It is important that you are the owner of the domain and can verify it before you go ahead and use it with G Suite.

Sometimes, companies are already using Yahoo, Outlook or other servers for email exchange. If that is the case with you, need not worry. G Suite will provide a data migration tool that will transfer all your contacts, emails, calendars and directly imports what is needed with great ease.

What Is The Cost of G Suit?

Currently, the cost of G Suit depends on the number of people who will be using its services. Every tier offers better functionality and features than the previous one.

Summing it up, G Suite makes three versions available for small and large businesses. Let’s take a look.

G Suite Plans

1. Basic – This version offers 30 GB shared storage across Gmail and Google Drive for every user. It includes most of the productivity apps by Google except for Cloud Search, App Maker, and Vault. It is available for $6 per user for each month.

2. Business – The Business plan is similar to the basic plan. The only difference is that all users have unlimited access to storage. It also includes Cloud Search, Vault, and app development and costs $12 for each user per month.

3. Enterprise – The Enterprise plan comprises all the features of the business plan. However, it has some advanced security provisions enabled. Some other features include eDiscovery, administration controls, and data loss. The cost of this plan is $25 for each user per month.

If you are the manager of an institution or take care of decision making in the IT sector, you can use G Suite Education for students and faculty.

G Suite for Education

G Suite for Education comprises almost all the tools available with G Suite Basic plan. There is additional storage space for Drive, Sites, and Gmail. The access to Google Vault is free of cost.

G Suite Enterprise for Education – Equipped with enterprise-grade capabilities, G Suite Enterprise for Education is the perfect deal for large institutions. Some enhanced controls that come with this plan include better search and analytics and enhanced communication tools. It costs $4 per month for both students and faculty.

If you are an eligible non-profit, Google has another free version for you with the same features and functionalities as G Suite Basic. It also holds some similarities with G Suite for Education.

Note – For this, you are going to need a Google account for non-profits. You also need to verify your ownership of the domain you will be using.

How To Get Started With G Suite?

Now, we know that there are different editions of G Suite. Each package has some unique features to provide the users with. Depending on your pick, you get to avail of different features. So, decide what you wish to use G Suite for and make a decision accordingly.

However, it is important to know how a product works before you go ahead and purchase the subscription. After all, you are putting money out on the table! So, Google gives users who are signing up for the first time a free trial version for 14 days. During this time, you can check out the features and see how it works for your organization. Does it fulfil your business needs? Well, use the free trial to find out. You’ll also get 20% off for entire year.

All you have to do to become a subscribed G Suite user is sign up using the standard sign-up process. First, you need to enter the credit card information. Then, you need to verify your domain after activating your account. If you don’t want to opt for the G Suite subscription, you need to cancel the membership before the expiration of the trial period.
